Frequently Asked Questions

What certification and recent experience do I need?
A valid scuba certification is required for certified diving. When you contact us, tell us your certification level and when you last dived. If your last dive was more than 6 months ago, a refresher may be required before joining regular dives. Some deeper or more demanding dives may also require additional experience or certification.
How many dives can I do in a day, and what times do you dive?
Our regular dive times are 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM. You can join one, two or all three dives depending on availability, conditions and your plans. Special or night dives can be discussed separately.
Can I request particular dive sites or types of diving?
Absolutely. Tell us if you’re interested in walls, wrecks, coral reefs, marine life or a particular area of Roatan. We’ll take your preferences into account, but final site selection depends on conditions, diver experience and logistics.
How large are the dive groups?
We keep groups small, with a maximum of 6 divers per guide. This allows more personal attention, better group organization and a pace adapted to the divers and the type of dive planned.
What is included in the dive price?
Guided boat diving, tanks, weights, water and snacks are included. Scuba equipment is also included when needed, including a dive computer. Nitrox is available for +$8 per dive.
Do you provide pickup?
Pickup is available from West Bay, West End and Sandy Bay. Pickup from other areas may be possible for an additional charge. Most of our North Shore dive sites are less than about 15 minutes by boat, and we can return to the base between dives.
What happens if weather or sea conditions change?
Safety comes first. Dive sites or schedules may be changed if conditions require it. If diving cannot safely go ahead, we’ll work with you on the appropriate rescheduling or cancellation option according to our policy.
How should I plan diving around my flight home?
Flying-after-diving intervals depend on how much diving you’ve done. Tell us your departure time when planning your last dive and we’ll help you schedule conservatively in line with recognized diving-safety guidance.
What is the booking and cancellation policy?
A 25% deposit is required to confirm your booking. The deposit is refundable if you cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled diving. Later cancellations and no-shows are non-refundable. If Scuba Nomad cancels because conditions are unsafe, the deposit is refunded.
